It is that time again for Basketball. Tiffin women won 66-70. The only thing that I was in charge of was Ticket booth. I sold tickets then switched out with another student to tear peoples tickets. I got there early enough to make sure the V.I.P room was taken care of and I also made sure that the concession stand was ready to go for whoever was going to work it. After the game I went to Darby's office to help for a little bit. I got the chance to do some work on the computer with updating all the scores/making sure everything is updated. Then I was basically done with my day.

Tiffin Men Won 96-45. Today, I was able to run and pay the referees. I had to restock the V.I.P room with pop. I then did majority crowd control and just made sure people were not sitting in the front row. I was there if people needed their questions answered. Now, that I am further in on my internship and I know more about game management, I really did not have to do much especially since It is the beginning of basketball season.
Kentucky slid by and beat Tiffin 78-76. Basically my duties was to run the concession stand. I learned how to work their popcorn machine. It was pretty boring, I did that from start to end. At the end I had to clean the machine out, wipe the concession stand down so that way it was clean again and then I organized it to my liking.
I get to the country club and I got started with the flags and set the Tees out. I then got the cooler of water at the first hole for golfers to help themselves. I got all the balls set out at the driving range. We then had to set out tables and chairs under the tent and when the pizza got there we took it under the tent as well but that was for the end to announce the winner of the tournament. We got the awards, trophies and the scoreboard out by the tent. Then we had some down time. When golfers got there, I helped them with where they had to go. When the tournament started I learned out to announce players and what time they were teeing off along with letting each group know the rules. They had to introduce themselves and where they are from. At the end we all got to have pizza and then we had to clean up and tear everything down. I learn that you have to have a lot of patience when it comes to golf.
Darby had emailed me letting me know that he had found me more hours and asked if I could come to his office after class. When I got to his office, he was on the phone so I sat down with his assistant and his assistant started to teach me how to record live scores on the Tiffin website. Then in the middle of that Darby called me into the office. He said there is this BIG memorial golf outing that we do every year. He actually told our class that if we went to the golf outing we would get extra credit. So, that was a plus side of already being there. He said he needed help with getting things ready for the big day on Sunday, and he needed me to come Saturday as well. While I was there, I went around got all his fliers out, he picked and chose and I bagged them up for him. Then I had to count out a ton of Tees as well as Divots. Then I was off for the day until Saturday.
We basically did the same thing as the other days. That consisted of set up and tear down. We had to carry tables and chairs out to a tent. I helped served drinks as well as some foods. I went around in the golf cart to pick up golf balls. At the end we had to tear down all the flags, buckets, signs, tables and chairs and park the golf carts in the right area.
In this meeting we discussed how the golf outing was going to be organized. Darby explained to me my tasks on what to get ready for the outing and what my responsibilities were the day of the outing. I came into this meeting not knowing anything about golf, but came out of the meeting knowing a little bit more. It made me feel more comfortable to work this event. I had to gather equipment such as tees, flags, posters. I had to get bags ready for all the players of the outing. Which included a bag of 4 tees and 2 divot tools. I was then responsible to decide which posters to use for the golf outing.
With this last double header, it was senior day. We wanted to make sure the guy with the deepest voice did the announcing to make sure everything went perfect for those seniors. I helped do scoreboard and I did the music as well. This is when my multi tasking skills came in handy. Throughout all the games, we did crowd control but no one got out of hand except for one guy and we had to tell him he needed to walk away and calm down and he continued to watch the game. We had no problems. Tiffin lost 3-2 the first game. Tiffin lost the second game 8-1.
So today, I had to get out of my comfort zone. I hate giving presentations, let alone announcing players names at the games. There was this guy there that kept reminding me, "remember no one can see you or see who you are so they have no clue who just messed up there name." All I could think was, yes, but I am the only girl up here with a bunch of men. This game I announced at the names of the player of both teams. I had to announce the team, along with each player and their positions. During the game I had to announce the players number and their last name as they game up to bat. I also helped Jordan learn how to control the music. Tiffin won 6-1 the first game. Tiffin lost the second game 2-1.
